Trial 22 – Part 1

Bellpark was never a very busy place.  Sure there were those times when the streets are so clogged you can walk across the town faster than it could take you to get by the first two red light cameras that were recently installed, but that is usually only during the times near the holidays. The “black Friday craze” if you will, that never really seemed to end.  It is a nice place to live and a nice place to start a family, if you were into that sort of thing.  It is also a nice place to call home-base.  I have lived in a couple different areas, mostly for school, and no matter what I always seemed to find myself wanting to drift back to this place.  I love to travel, though no matter where I go, it never seems quite as nice as Bellpark.  It’s my own little safe haven.

I live on the north side of town.  The place that, to the rest of the city, was the “ghetto,” though we probably had one of the lowest crime rates in the entire state of Ohio.  Bellpark was an upper middle class city right outside the capital.  It is a suburb so sometimes it feels like we are cut off from the rest of the world, mostly the normal issues of the world.  There is nothing wrong with that however.  We get a lot of flak about being the most stuck up people this side of the Midwest, though I usually try to avoid this stereotype.  Though I will admit sometimes after dealing with the public of my own hometown I can see where they get this from.  My family is doing well, but were not even close to the stature that most people in this little town of 60,000 enjoy.  My parents bought our house about 30 years go in the 80’s after they got married, got a deal too, or at least they thought.

Possible novel release!

Hello everyone,

So recently I have finished up, what I hope to be one day, a novel.  It has taken me just over a year.  Here is the situation…Publishing is crazy hard nowadays, unless you have a lot of money, which I don’t.  So to get this out anyway, I am thinking about releasing it it pieces (probably putting up a new portion weekly or every few days, depending on how people react to it).  In order to do this however, I need a lot of support.  I can’t leak it if no one is going to read it/share it/etc.  SO if you want this to happen please let me know directly.  If I get enough support, it will happen.  If not, well, I will just keep it for now and try to get it out there in a different fashion.  I really hope you are into it!  I would love to see this happen!

The Loss of Beautiful Minds

I am a happy man.  I always have been.  So I say the following with an attitude not of complaint, but of observation, and maybe a little bit of persuasion.

If there is one thing that makes us different than everything else that has ever set foot on this planet, it’s our minds.  Our creativity.  Our imagination.  And sometimes, lately more than ever, we forget this simple fact.

Too many times do I see people with brilliant minds stray away from something that could change the world simply because they “don’t think it will make a life for them.”  Though technically, those crazy thought’s and ideas is what got you to be able to have this life in the first place.

When did getting a pay raise become more important than a beautiful piece of art?  When did a “good corporate job” become more important than taking a risk and doing what you love?

People are beginning to forget what got us to this point.  While I don’t know for certain all of the details of the planet, I can guarantee that we didn’t get to be the civilization we are today by the people filling out EOE reports.  We got to this point by the thinkers.  The creative ones.  The people who knew that the mind was what will take us to the next level of life.

I don’t begrudge the people with the shirt and tie jobs.  The ones who get the daily paperwork out of the way.  We need everything we have.  But please, don’t forget the people who got you go that point.

There is a place for everyone on this crowded planet Earth (believe it or not) and just because someone wants to draw, paint, take photos, write, or whatever, they shouldn’t scrape by on life or drop it completely because they won’t conform to a “safe” life.

Remember art.  Remember literature.  Remember science.  Because without them, you wouldn’t be able to remember at all.
